Studio Philosophy
The discipline of practicing an instrument will serve students of all ages well in the long-run.  Achieving musical literacy helps children to succeed academically.  I use games, contests, and other proven teaching methods to tailor piano lessons to each individual student.  In my studio, I expect students to work hard, be nice, and have fun!

Practice Makes Perfect
Practice strategies and times will vary from student to student.  In general, however, your student should be practicing 5 days per week in addition to their lesson day.  I work towards student independence in practicing at home.  However, parents and guardians, please encourage and remind your child to practice daily.  Also, please be aware of what your child should be practicing.  Students, do your part to work hard and have fun with piano.  The more you practice, the more enjoyable playing your songs will be.  I will occasionally post practicing tips on my website.

Payment Policy
Lessons cost $22.00 per half hour lesson.  Payments for the entire month are due at the first lesson of each month (check or cash acceptable). You may choose to take a 45 minute lesson or 1-hour lesson.  The rates are the same.  Please see the "payments" tab for more details.
        30 minute lesson = $22.00
        45 minute lesson = $33.00
        1 hour lesson      = $44.00

Recitals
Recitals give students the opportunity to showcase their hard work for family and friends.  We will have at least one studio recital in the spring each year. The exact date, time, and location are TBD.  All students are encouraged to perform, but decisions to perform are made on a student to student basis.  All students are also encouraged to attend the studio recital, whether or not you are performing.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot make your lesson, try to switch with another student.  Please refer to your studio-contact sheet for lesson times and phone numbers of other families.  If you trade lessons with someone, please notify me via phone or e-mail.  If no one can switch with you, I can try to find a different time to do your lesson. It is not a guarantee that I would have an available time slot for a make-up session. Lack of practice is not an acceptable reason for skipping a lesson.  There will be no make up lessons or refunds given for cancellations less than 24 hours before your lesson or for “no-shows;” however, I understand that illness and family emergencies happen within less than 24 hours of a lesson, and we can work around these cases.
